Today in Cis Privilege: Working for tips means women must accept sexual harassment

Women make up the majority of tipped workers, and are 70% of servers. Nearly 37% of all sexual harassment charges filed by women with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) come from the restaurant industry — that’s more than 5 times the rate for the general female workforce [1].

What’s living off tips got to do with sexual harassment? Everything.
